the pressure of time

"We talked about the good life, the life without the pressure of time." - from A Severe Mercy

One of my favorite sermons of 2010 was by our RUF campus minister on Jonah. I am a visual learner which is probably why I love illustrations that help me grasp truths. They are like breath prayers only in image form. So often I am like Jonah, living in disbelief that God will take care of me so I choose disobedience feeding my planning/control personality. I, like Jonah, have a constant need to be humbled and broken in seeing the utter desperation and dirtiness of my heart--that my performance has nothing to do with my salvation. The truth is that despite the crossroads of my 20's concerning job choices and big life decisions... I will get to Ninevah no matter what choices are made. As a child of God, there is no plan B only plan A. He isn't wondering what he is going to do with my life, he's had it planned out since before the beginning of time. And that my friends is why we are able to live without the pressure of time.
